Compress an image for a form upload size limit
Choose a file size target, preserve readable detail and check the exported image before submitting a form.
Check the form requirements first
Read the allowed extensions, maximum file size and required dimensions. A form that accepts JPEG may reject WebP even when WebP is smaller. Work from the original image and keep it as a backup.
For a 200 KB limit, this compressor uses 200,000 bytes. A receiving site may use a different convention or round its displayed size. Leave a little margin if your exported file is rejected at the boundary.
Reduce dimensions before sacrificing too much quality
A large camera photograph usually contains more pixels than a small form needs. Use Resize, Crop and Pad to match the required dimensions. Fit preserves the whole image with padding; fill crops the edges. Check that faces, signatures and document corners remain visible.
Do not resize an identification document below the receiving site's requirements. More compression is not useful if the text becomes unreadable.
Choose a target and an accepted format
Open Image Compressor to Target Size, select your image and set the cap. JPEG suits photographs, while PNG preserves sharp graphics and transparency. Lossless PNG may not meet a very small cap. WebP is useful when the form explicitly accepts it.
Compression may reduce quality or dimensions. If the tool reports that the target was unmet, the best candidate is still too large: lower the dimensions or adjust the target. Renaming the extension does not convert the image.
Inspect the downloaded copy
Open the exported file at normal viewing size. Confirm its actual byte size, extension and pixel dimensions, then check any text and fine detail. Submit the downloaded copy instead of the original.
Raster re-encoding can remove metadata. Keep the original if you need camera information or a color-managed archival copy. Files are processed in your browser; large images can exceed a phone's available memory.
